Facilities Management Certificate

Currently, we are no longer accepting new students into this program. Beginning in Fall 2009, we will continue to offer courses for current students throughout the upcoming academic year so coursework can be completed by June 2010.
This certificate was developed for facilities plant managers, systems administrators/technicians, property managers, and maintenance personnel. Our certificate provides participants with the "top down: view required to manage and control a facility's operating system. Seven courses complete the certificate as outlined below. Many students take multiple courses, enabling them to complete their certificate in about one year. Upon successful completion, Northeastern University will award a Certificate in Facilities Management.  



Facilities Management Courses (all evening): Required Core Courses:

Supervisory Management CIV 0174 (Formerly CIV 5174)

Technical - Choose a minimum of two:

Introduction to HVAC Systems Design I MEG 0303 (Formerly ME 5303)
HVAC Systems Design 2 MEG 0304 (Formerly ME 5304)
Design of Building Electrical Systems CIV 0109 (Formerly CIV 5109)
Design of Building Plumbing Systems CIV 0108 (Formerly CIV 5108)

Electives - Choose a minimum of three:

Introduction to Fire Protection Systems CIV 0307 (Formerly CIV 5307)
Landscape and Grounds Management CIV 0232 (Formerly CIV 5232)
Managing Construction Contracts CIV 0119 (Formerly CIV 5119)
Intelligent Building Systems MEG 0307 (Formerly ME 5307)
Introduction to AutoCAD CIV 0655 (Formerly CIV 5655)

Note: You may apply two courses to another Building, Construction & Architecture Certificate.
