Meeting and Event Management

Meeting and Event Management - A multi-billion-dollar industry.

Currently, we are no longer accepting new students into this program. Beginning in Fall 2009, we will continue to offer courses for current students throughout the upcoming academic year so coursework can be completed by June 2010.

The meetings industry is rapidly becoming an important and recognized business profession within the current global marketplace and has expanded to become a multi-billion dollar business. Meetings, conferences, and special events are an integral part of doing business today and corporations rely on meeting and event planners to help achieve their specific business goals through flawlessly planned events. Our certificate in Meeting and Event Management is perfect for experienced meeting and event professionals looking to expand their skills and remain competitive; as well as those interested in starting a career in this exciting field. Participants may register for individual courses to update their skills, or complete six courses to earn a certificate. All courses meet one night per week for six weeks from 6:00 - 9:00 pm.

Courses are taught by industry-certified professionals to provide you with valuable insight and knowledge through their extensive firsthand experience and expertise. Our instructors will help you sharpen you skills and gain a deeper understanding of the complex tasks involved in planning a meeting or event.

MPI Organization
Meeting Professionals International (MPI) is the premier educational, technological, and peer-interaction resource for meeting planners. MPI New England provides Northeastern students with a Student Associate Membership for one year while enrolled in this certificate program. Requirements to earn the Certificate
  • Miss no more than 1 class night per course
  • Payment made in full
  • Access to e-mail to communicate with NU staff & instructors
  • Complete all homework assignments and final projects

Fee
$595 per course. Includes classroom materials. Textbooks are not included in the tuition.
