Congratulations on your acceptance to Northeastern University’s College of Professional Studies! To get you started, we have put together some helpful information for newly admitted students.

Undergraduate Programs

1) Confirm Your Enrollment

  • Log in to your application portal here
  • After logging in, click on “Your application decision is now available online” to get the decision screen
  • On the decision screen, click on “Report Your Enrollment Decision” to go to the Enrollment Confirmation screen

After Enrollment Confirmation is Received

  • Activate Student Hub
  • If you haven’t done so already, submit your official transcripts
  • Financial aid is available to eligible degree-seeking students. To learn how to apply, and/or determine if you are eligible for financial aid, please visit the Student Financial Services webpage. If you have already completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the office of Student Financial Services will automatically create a financial aid package
  • Familiarize yourself with the program’s curriculum so you are ready to get registered once registration opens. If you have questions, ask the graduate or bachelor’s completion Learner Services Team

2) Create Your Student Hub Account

On The Student Hub you can:

  • Register for courses and add/drop courses in real time
  • Confirm your transactions and final schedule instantly
  • Confirm course registration
  • Find room assignments
  • View billing information
  • View grades and transcripts
  • Access Canvas
  • Check your financial aid application status

Upon your acceptance, it will take two business days before you can access your Student Hub account. After two business days, visit your Student Hub and click on “How do I get a Student Hub username and password?” to activate your account.

3) Register for Your Courses

After creating and accessing your Student Hub account, you will be able to register for classes. The curriculum for each program is listed in the undergraduate programs or graduate programs section of the website. The curriculum outlines the courses required to complete your program. To find your program’s curriculum:

  • Find your undergraduate program or graduate program
  • Scroll to “What You’ll Study” to see the curriculum

4) Participate in New Student Orientation

New students taking courses on-ground receive an invitation to the on-ground orientation. The purpose of New Student Orientation is to provide information and tools for each student’s success from the point of program entry to degree completion. This is a chance to familiarize yourself with the campus; get your Husky ID; learn about the various resources that are available to you; meet various college and university representatives, including your Career and Academic Coach; and ensure you have all the information you need to make a smooth and successful transition into CPS.

All new students are expected to attend the on-ground orientation. If you cannot attend the on-ground orientation, please be sure to review thoroughly the Student Reference Guide and to explore the New Admitted Student Site

5) Order Your Books

Please refer to the Northeastern University Bookstore. You will need to provide the course department, course number, and section number to determine which textbooks you need for each class. To contact the bookstore directly, please call (617) 373-3182.

6) Get Your Husky Card

The Husky photo ID is required to gain access to all parking areas, Snell Library, computer labs, and other campus locations. You may deposit money into a Husky account to use as a debit card in the Curry Center Food Court, bookstore, as well as a number of on- and off-campus locations. Please go to 4 Speare Commons to get your Husky ID. Alternatively, you can obtain your Husky ID online here.

7) Log in to Northeastern Canvas

To access your online, hybrid, blended, and on-campus courses on Northeastern Canvas, please log in to your Student Hub account and select the Northeastern Canvas link. To log in to Canvas, you will use your Student Hub username and password.

Financial Aid

Financial Aid is available to eligible degree-seeking students. To learn how to apply, and/or determine if you are eligible for financial aid, please visit the Student Financial Services web page.

If you have already completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the office of Student Financial Services will automatically create a financial aid package. This can take up to two weeks after the awarding cycle has begun for the academic year. To check the status of your financial aid:

  • Log in to your Student Hub portal
  • Go to the “Self-Service” tab
  • Click on “My Financial Aid Status”

If further documentation is needed to determine eligibility, you will be contacted by email.

If you have not completed the FAFSA form, please go to www.fafsa.ed.gov. Enter Northeastern University’s school code (002199) to have the information sent to Northeastern University’s Financial Aid office.

Cooperative Education and Experiential Learning

Our Experiential Learning program offers great opportunities for students to apply in-class learning to real-world work environments, explore career interests, and network with potential employers through full-time co-ops and part-time internships.

Transfer Credit (Bachelor’s Completion Only)

Transfer credit is reviewed and processed once all official transcripts and/or college-level proficiency examinations are received from each prior institution. It takes approximately 2-3 weeks for an award to be processed. All transfer credit awards will be submitted to students via email. You are encouraged to register for courses while you are waiting for your transfer credit award and degree audit.

  • The transfer credit award will state which credits have been accepted and the equivalent courses
  • The transfer credit award will be followed by a degree audit
  • The degree audit will show you how your transfer credits fit into your program and which courses you have to complete

3) Complete the Process for Your Certificate of Eligibility (I-20)

Please read through and follow the instructions on our Visa Information page here to submit a request for an I-20.

4) Review the SEVIS Guidelines

The Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) tracks and monitors non-immigrant students and exchange visitors during their stay in the United States. In order to remain in good standing with your visa, you must comply with all SEVIS regulations.

  • As an undergraduate student, you must take a minimum of 12 semester hours (s.h.) of credit per semester to stay in compliance with SEVIS regulations
  • As a graduate student, you must take a minimum of 8 quarter hours (q.h.) of credit per quarter to stay in compliance with SEVIS regulations

  • The transfer credit award will state which credits have been accepted and the equivalent courses at the College
  • The transfer credit award will be followed by a degree audit
  • The degree audit will show how your transfer credits fit into your program and which remaining courses you need to complete

1) Confirm Your Enrollment with your Program.

  • Log in to your application portal here
  • On the decision screen, click on “Report Your Enrollment Decision”.  You will need your PIN and password.
  • The final piece of the enrollment confirmation is the deposit; details are in step 4.

2) Activate your Student Hub Portal

It will take two business days after acceptance before you can access your Student Hub account. Then, visit me.northeastern.edu and click on “How do I get a Student Hub username and password?” to activate your account.

For future reference, Student Hub is a great tool! On Student Hub you will be able to:

  • Register for courses and add/drop courses in real time
  • Confirm course registration
  • View grades and transcripts
  • Access Northeastern Blackboard, a portal for courses

3) Activate your myOGS

MyOGS is a Portal used by the Office of Global Services to manage various immigration-related requests.

  • Wait 72 hours after activating Student Hub to access myOGS, where you will be able to access the POA eform.

4) Pay your deposit of $500CAD to finalize your enrollment confirmation

  • The deposit is required for all SDS and non SDS students
  • You will need a receipt to show proof of deposit. This receipt needs to 1) name Northeastern as the recipient; 2) include the transaction date; and 3) include the exact amount of the wire transfer.

5)   Submit your Proof of Acceptance (POA) Request 

  • You will find the POA eForm in myOGS . You should have access because you activated myOGS earlier (step3 ). If you are not able to access the form, please email [email protected]
  • Upload the deposit receipt into the POA.  POA documents without receipts will not be processed
  • Allow 10 business days for processing
  • The POA will be sent to your Northeastern email electronically.
  • If you are applying through Student Direct Stream, your bill will be issued after your POA.

6) Register for Your Courses

After creating and accessing your Student Hub account, you will be able to register for classes.

7)    Report to OGS Canada when you receive your Study Permit!

  • This will tell us when to send you important information about travel, arrival, orientation, and more!

8)   Start planning arrival

  •  Start thinking about Housing.
  • Understand Health insurance requirements in Canada and the resources available.
  • Attend a Pre-departure Session.  You will be emailed this information about a month before the beginning of the semester. It will also be on our website.
  • If you need a travel letter, please visit the Travel and Arrival in Canada page for more information.

9)   Arrival

  • Attend New Student Orientation.  You will be sent these details via email.
  • Complete the registration agreement upon arrival.
  • Share your proof of health insurance upon arrival.

To find your program’s curriculum:

4) Participate in New Student Orientation

New students taking courses on-ground receive an invitation to the on-ground orientation. The purpose of New Student Orientation is to provide information and tools for each student’s success from the point of program entry to degree completion. This is a chance to familiarize yourself with the campus; get your Husky ID; learn about the various resources that are available to you; meet various college and university representatives, including your Career and Academic Coach; and ensure you have all the information you need to make a smooth and successful transition into CPS.

All new students are expected to attend the on-ground orientation. If you cannot attend the on-ground orientation, please be sure to review thoroughly the Student Reference Guide and to explore the New Admitted Student Site.

5) Order Your Books

Please refer to the Northeastern University Bookstore. You will need to provide the course department, course number, and section number to determine which textbooks you need for each class. To contact the bookstore directly, please call (617) 373-2286.

6) You can obtain your Husky ID online here

7) Log in to Northeastern Canvas

To access your online, hybrid, blended, and on-campus courses on Northeastern Canvas, please log in to your Student Hub account and select the Northeastern Canvas link. To log in to Northeastern Canvas, you will use your Student Hub username and password.

Below is some additional helpful information to get you started:

Transfer Credit (Bachelor’s Completion Only)

Transfer credit is reviewed and processed once all official transcripts and/or college-level proficiency examinations are received from each prior institution attended. It takes approximately 2-3 weeks for an award to be processed, please note that if we need to send out a foreign transcript for evaluation, this process will take up to 6 weeks. All transfer credit awards will be submitted to students via email. You are encouraged to register for courses while you are waiting for your transfer credit award and degree audit.

  • The transfer credit award will state which credits have been accepted and the equivalent courses at the College
  • The transfer credit award will be followed by a degree audit
  • The degree audit will show how your transfer credits fit into your program and which remaining courses you need to complete

1) Confirm Your Enrollment with your Program.

  • Log in to your application portal here
  • On the decision screen, click on “Report Your Enrollment Decision”.  You will need your PIN and password.
  • The final piece of the enrollment confirmation is the deposit; details are in step 4.

2) Activate your Student Hub Portal

It will take two business days after acceptance before you can access your Student Hub account. Then, visit me.northeastern.edu and click on “How do I get a Student Hub username and password?” to activate your account.

For future reference, Student Hub is a great tool! On Student Hub you will be able to:

  • Register for courses and add/drop courses in real time
  • Confirm course registration
  • View grades and transcripts
  • Access Northeastern Blackboard, a portal for courses

3) Activate your myOGS

MyOGS is a Portal used by the Office of Global Services to manage various immigration-related requests.

  • Wait 72 hours after activating Student Hub to access myOGS, where you will be able to access the POA eform.

4) Pay your deposit of $500CAD to finalize your enrollment confirmation

  • The deposit is required for all SDS and non SDS students
  • You will need a receipt to show proof of deposit. This receipt needs to 1) name Northeastern as the recipient; 2) include the transaction date; and 3) include the exact amount of the wire transfer.

5)   Submit your Proof of Acceptance (POA) Request 

  • You will find the POA eForm in myOGS . You should have access because you activated myOGS earlier (step3 ). If you are not able to access the form, please email [email protected]
  • Upload the deposit receipt into the POA.  POA documents without receipts will not be processed
  • Allow 10 business days for processing
  • The POA will be sent to your Northeastern email electronically.
  • If you are applying through Student Direct Stream, your bill will be issued after your POA.

6) Register for Your Courses

After creating and accessing your Student Hub account, you will be able to register for classes.

7)    Report to OGS Canada when you receive your Study Permit!

  • This will tell us when to send you important information about travel, arrival, orientation, and more!

8)   Start planning the arrival

  •  Start thinking about Housing.
  • Understand Health insurance requirements in Canada and the resources available.
  •  Attend a Pre-departure Session.  You will be emailed this information about a month before the beginning of the semester. It will also be on our website.

9)   Arrival

  • Attend New Student Orientation.  You will be sent these details via email.
  • Complete the registration agreement upon arrival.
  • Share your proof of health insurance upon arrival.
