Briana Coakley

Biography

Briana Hyde is a Lecture at Northeastern University’s College of Professional Studies, Boston, Massachusetts. She has been a lecture since 2012 and teaches Non-Profit Management in blended and online courses with a focus on Legal Governance and Human Resource Management. Briana teaches practical skills in her courses through real life examples based on her experience. In addition to her work as a lecture Briana is a licensed attorney and a Hearing Officer for the New Hampshire Department of Education. She is a managing partner in the law firm Coakley & Hyde, PLLC, located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Briana has worked as legal counsel for non-profit organizations in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Briana is an experienced trial attorney that has represented many businesses including non-profits, in contract negotiations, resolving disputes and employment matters. Briana is  a faculty member at the Massachusetts School of Law, where she graduated in 2000. 

Briana enjoys volunteering her time and has been actively involved with many non-profit organizations in the past. Recently she served as a board member for the New Hampshire Conflict Resolution Association and in the past served as a board member of the Children Museum of New Hampshire where she was the chair of the legal governance committee. 

Professional Experience

Ms. Coakley’s practice areas encompass Marital and Family Law, Special Education Law, Employment Law and servicing all aspects of a nonprofit organization’s life cycle.

Ms. Coakley is a Hearing Officer and Mediator for the New Hampshire Department of Education a Professor at Northeastern University teaching Nonprofit Legal Governance, Human Resource Management and an Adjunct Law Professor at the Massachusetts School of Law.  

A seasoned attorney and mediator Ms. Coakley has been practicing in the New Hampshire Seacoast since 2001 with a vast background in civil law and years of trial experience in both State and Federal Courts.  Ms. Coakley served as a Clerk Intern for the Massachusetts Housing Court, and as a Judicial Intern to the Honorable Douglas R. Gray for the New Hampshire Superior Court.

Professional Activities & Accomplishments

Ms. Coakley has served on many nonprofit boards and is currently a board member of the New Hampshire Conflict Resolution Association.
