The Mentorship Matters Series, created by Dr. Earlene Avalón, and facilitated by faculty Program Leads, are community-led opportunities for all students in the Lowell Institute School (LIS)* within CPS to become more engaged, get support, and build network connections in specific industries/program areas.

- Panellist, Yongqiang (Yong) Zhang, Senior Director of Data Science (Zazzle); Part-time Lecturer, Northeastern University
*The Lowell Institute School (LIS) comprises all STEM majors within the College of Professional Studies (CPS) bachelor’s degree completion programs.

Each one-hour, virtual session will highlight one an industry and provide students with an opportunity to engage with experts and alumni working in the field.
Speakers will discuss such topics as the opportunities and challenges they faced as they entered their chosen profession, the future of their field, along with pathways for professional advancement.
These discussions will help students build their networks in each industry and expand their professional connections across the student cohort.
Students are encouraged to submit questions in advance to help guide the facilitated discussion. To ensure access for all students, sessions will be recorded and circulated following each event.
