Fred is a Faculty Member of the College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University, Boston, MA. He is also an alumnus of Northeastern University, and holds BS, MS and Ph.D. Degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Science with major in Thermo-fluids Engineering, and minor in Industrial Engineering.
His research interests and expertise include conventional and alternative energy conversion and power generation, nanomaterials synthesis and characterization, and nondestructive testing, and evaluation of engineering materials. He has worked with scientists at NASA’s John Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, OH, in the development of Solar Dynamic Power for the international space station. He is currently working in cooperation with scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences in research areas of Nanotechnology including synthesis and customization of nanomaterials for applications in the aerospace, automotive, and power generation industries.
He has trained mechanical, electrical, aeronautical, motorsports, and industrial engineering and engineering technology students for more than 25 years in institutions of higher learning including Northeastern University, Boston, MA, Wentworth Institute of Technology Boston, MA, Daniel Webster College, Nashua, NH, The New College Institute, Martinsville, VA, and Old Dominion University, Norfolk VA. He has instructed students in a variety of technical and scientific fields including Thermofluids, Mechanics and Aerodynamics, High Performance engines, Stress analysis, Instrumentation, Alternative energy, Fuel cells, Nuclear power, and other areas of applied physics and mathematics. He has written manuals for laboratory experimentation, and published and presented a variety of technical papers in scientific and engineering journals and conferences.
He has served in administrative positions such as, Chair of the Engineering, Mathematics and Science Divisions at Daniel Webster College, Nashua, NH, Chair of the Division of Experimentation and Laboratory Studies of the ASEE (American Society for Engineering Education), Director of the Motorsports Bachelors Program at Old Dominion University, and Chair of Review Panels for the National Science Foundation (NSF). He has been Company Representative for the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), and member of Grant Review Panels for NASA, NSF, and DOD.
