Heather Casteel

Part-Time Lecturer


Heather Casteel holds a Master's degree from New York University in Media, Culture, and Communication and a Master's in Education from Boston University in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Her primary research interests are Academic English pedagogy, technology in the classroom, English as a lingua franca, and the intersection of Critical Theory and cultural production. Heather worked as research assistant in the Social Media Collective at Microsoft Research as well as completing quantitative and qualitative research methods courses at UMass Amherst and receiving human subjects training. She has previously presented her work on cultural representation in social media at the Eastern Communication Association, The New York State Communication Association, and at New York University. Heather completed her practicum in the academic writing program at Boston University. Heather has also taught academic writing courses for Bentley University, and assisted in the Summer Intensive English Program at Tufts University.
