
Biography
Dr. Thierer is a faculty member in the Graduate School of Education. She teaches in both the Masters in Education program and the Doctorate in Education program, as well as chairing dissertation committees.

Teaching and Research Focus Area:
Dr. Thierer has expertise in curriculum design, assessment, and evaluation. She also has a research interest in supporting neurodiverse students, particularly as they transition from high school to college. Additionally, she is a subject matter expert for the Department of Labor supporting their Strengthening Community Colleges grantees. She also serves as a reviewer for the grants for the Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families.
Professional Background:
Dr. Thierer began her career as a K-12 teacher with a specialty in career and technical education. She has served as a national director for a nonprofit network of schools, as well as an executive director for a national nonprofit that focused on school reform and equity. She was the associate dean for teaching, learning, and assessment at a community college in Washington State where she also ran the teaching and learning center. She has been at Northeastern since 2022.
Academic Background: Dr. Thierer has a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Washington, Seattle, a Masters in Educational Administration from the University of Phoenix, and a Doctorate in Education from Northeastern University.
