Michelle Rego


Biography

Michelle Rego is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the STEM designated BS Digital Communication and Media program. Her teaching focus includes principal instruction for Digital Communication Strategy, Principles of Marketing and Consumer Behavior.

Prior to joining Northeastern, Rego was a professor at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI, specializing in experiential education courses in purpose branding and media analytics. She has over 10 years of industry experience, including public relations with AAA Northeast and product development and sustainability branding with Philips.

In addition to her PhD in Communication from the University of Connecticut, Rego holds an MBA in Marketing from Bryant University. She also holds a BS in Marketing with a concentration in Sociology from the University of Massachusetts. Rego has completed multiple certifications in digital analytics, generative AI for educators and training for inclusive STEM teaching methods.

Rego believes in the power of communications to make a positive impact on the community. She is a proud supporter of social entrepreneurship and was awarded a Citizen Citation from the mayor of Providence and Certificate of Special Recognition by Senator Jack Reed for her work with literacy and job readiness programs for the West African immigrant and refugee population in Rhode Island.

Rego has also co-authored multiple peer-reviewed journal articles including global meta-analysis research on cause marketing and women’s health campaigns. Most recently she has presented research at the National Communication Association (NCA) on the effects of societal stigma on support for women’s reproductive health care in Southern New England.
