Where are you from, or where do you consider home?
I was born and raised in Mumbai, India. It’s a city that taught me resilience, adaptability, and the value of hard work. Mumbai will always be home, but my time at Northeastern and my professional experience in Seattle have expanded what home means to me. I feel at home across cultures and communities now, and that feels like its own kind of growth.
Three words to describe your experience at Northeastern:

What motivated you to continue through challenging times?
I came to Northeastern with five years of professional experience in analytics and technology, but I knew that AI was reshaping industries faster than anyone could ignore. Pursuing this degree was an investment in my future, and in my ability to contribute to something larger than my previous work. As an international student, there were moments when balancing academics, career preparation, financial pressures, and life in a new country felt genuinely overwhelming. During those times, I focused on the long-term goal that brought me here: becoming a technology leader capable of solving real-world problems through data and AI. The support of my family, mentors, professors, and advisor kept me grounded. And on the hardest days, I reminded myself that every challenge was preparing me for what came next. Looking back, I believe that’s true.
What has your journey revealed to you about yourself?
My time at Northeastern showed me that growth happens when you’re willing to step outside your comfort zone and embrace uncertainty. I discovered that resilience, curiosity, and continuous learning are some of my greatest strengths, and that prior experience is valuable, but staying adaptable is what drives long-term success. Serving as both a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant gave me confidence not just technically, but as a leader and mentor. Most importantly, Northeastern showed me that I am capable of turning ambitious goals into reality. What began as a desire to advance my analytics expertise became a passion for building AI solutions that solve real-world problems and that realization led directly to my current role as AI Engineer III at Premera Blue Cross.
Experiential learning is a core component of a Northeastern education. Describe some of the highlights for you.
The defining experience for me was a healthcare-focused project under Professor Atherley. I had the opportunity to apply analytics and AI concepts to real healthcare challenges, gaining real insight into how data-driven solutions can improve outcomes and support better decision-making. It showed me how AI can be used not just as technology, but as a tool to create tangible value for people and communities. That project sparked my interest in healthcare AI and gave me the confidence to pursue opportunities in the field. It played a significant role in helping me land my current position. For me, experiential learning was more than an academic requirement, it was the bridge between my education and my professional aspirations.
Where do you imagine yourself five years from now?
I see myself leading the development of AI-powered solutions that create meaningful impact at scale, particularly in healthcare. I hope to be in a leadership role where I can combine technical expertise, strategic thinking, and innovation. I want to help organizations adopt AI responsibly. I also envision contributing to the broader AI community through research, mentorship, and knowledge-sharing. I’ve benefited greatly from the guidance of mentors and professors throughout my journey, and I want to be that person for the next generation of technology professionals.
What I found at Northeastern was much more than a degree. I found a community that challenged me to grow, supported me through every stage of my journey, and helped me unlock opportunities I once only imagined.

Is there anything else you wanted to say that we didn’t cover?
I’m especially grateful to my professors and my academic advisor, Naomi Cottrelle, for helping me make the most of my time here and align my coursework with my long-term goals. I carry with me not just the knowledge and skills I gained, but the mindset: growth comes from curiosity, resilience, and a willingness to embrace new challenges. I’ll always be proud to be part of the Northeastern community.
