Northeastern University’s Master of Science in Human Resources Management program prepares you to connect an organization’s strategy and its people, providing a specific focus on the new technologies that are profoundly changing the workplace and the role of HR professionals.
The curriculum features six leading-edge concentrations that align with trends currently reshaping the human resources field - Digital HR, Artificial Intelligence for Human Resources, Global Talent Management, Project Management, Leadership, and Organizational Communication.
The human resources management program also puts an emphasis on the importance of diversity and equity within the workplace as it directly correlates to higher success within businesses.
Built around Northeastern’s signature experiential learning model, you’ll integrate classroom material with real-world experience preparing you to be strategic business partners in their organizations.

Unique Transfer Credit Opportunities
Students with HR Certification Institute and the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) certificates can receive between three to 12 transfer credit quarter hours toward their MS, allowing students to accelerate program completion.
About the SHRM, HRCI, and AIHR Certification Transfer Credit Opportunities:
Northeastern University recognizes the knowledge and HR competencies demonstrated by those who have earned their SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR or AIHR certifications. As a result, credential-holders have the unique opportunity to accelerate through a Northeastern University degree.
Successful applicants for a master's degree program with their SHRM-CP or PHR:
- Will receive 3 quarter hours of transfer credit - a 6% savings in tuition.
- Will be able to earn a master’s degree by completing 14 courses, rather than 15.
- Transfer credit is awarded for the following course: HRM 6015 Introduction to Human Resources Management.
Successful applicants for a master's degree program with their SHRM-SCP or SPHR:
- Will receive 6 quarter hours of transfer credit - a 13% savings in tuition.
- Will be able to earn a master’s degree by completing 13 courses, rather than 15.
- Transfer credit is awarded for the following courses: HRM 6015 Introduction to Human Resources Management and HRM 6005 Creating a High-Performance Organization.
Successful applicants for a master's degree program with their AIHR:
- Will receive up to 12 quarter hours of transfer credit - a 27% savings in tuition.
- Will be able to earn a master’s degree by completing 11 courses, rather than 15.
- Transfer credit is awarded for the following courses: HRM 6025 Workforce Analytics, HRM 6035 Digital HR, HRM 6042 Strategic Workforce Planning, HRM 6020 Talent Acquisition.

Note: PJM 5900 Foundations of Project Management is required for students who do not have at least two years of professional experience working on projects. This course is only intended for those who are not familiar with professional project work. This is an estimate based on the tuition rates for Academic Year 2024-2025 and does not include any fees or other expenses. Some courses and labs have tuition rates that may increase or decrease total tuition. Tuition and fees are subject to revision by the president and Board of Trustees at any time. Select programs at select campuses offer additional scholarships of up to 25% off the listed price for domestic students studying on campus. For students interested in pursuing financial assistance or educational loans, additional educational costs, known as Cost of Attendance (COA) components, can be included in the calculation of aid and loan eligibility. Components may include food, housing, books, course materials, supplies, equipment, transportation, personal expenses, and the cost of obtaining a first professional licensure.
