Three Words to Describe Northeastern:

Innovative | Transformative | Empowering

Getting a degree while life is happening isn’t always easy. How have you faced and overcome some of these challenges?

During my journey at Northeastern University, one significant challenge was navigating the complexities of balancing rigorous coursework while actively searching for a co-op position. As an international student, I faced additional hurdles, such as adapting to a new academic environment and managing procedural requirements like obtaining a Social Security Number and work authorization.

The co-op search process, in particular, was demanding as it required tailoring applications, preparing for interviews, and networking all while meeting academic responsibilities. To overcome this, I developed a structured approach, dedicating specific hours to job applications and leveraging the university’s career services. Attending workshops, mock interviews, and networking events helped me refine my skills and gain insights into potential employers’ expectations.

I also sought guidance from my professors, career advisors, and peers, who offered invaluable support and feedback throughout the process. This proactive mindset, coupled with resilience and adaptability, allowed me to successfully secure a co-op position that aligns with my career goals. These experiences have not only honed my time management and problem-solving skills but also prepared me to handle challenges in professional environments with confidence and leadership.”

I chose to join Northeastern University for its unparalleled emphasis on experiential learning, its reputation as a leader in co-op education, and the global perspective it brings to academic and professional growth.
