Biography

Dave Hagen is an assistant teaching professor in the graduate Security Domain. A retired Navy Captain, he has held four commands, and was assigned to the  Strategic Studies group (the Navy’s think tank) as a policy analyst. His areas of research include stability on the Korean Peninsula.

Professor Hagen was a 2017-2018 Teaching Inquiry Fellow with Northeastern’s Center for Advancing Teaching and Learning Through Research (CATLR) and is a 2018-2019 Faculty Scholar. His area of research is the influence of prior learning upon objective decision-making.

As a former part-time faculty member, he was nominated twice by students for the Excellence in Teaching Award.

Professor Hagen is an attorney licensed to practice in Massachusetts. He holds a Juris Doctorate from New England Law, a Master of Arts in International Relations from Salve Regina University, a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, and an MA with distinction in National Security, where he was a Mahan Scholar from the U.S. Naval War College.
