Biography
Eliot Gattegno is a Professor of the Practice at the College of Professional Studies with a varied career spanning academia, non-profits and the private sector. Prior to his current role, Gattegno served as the GM and VP of Education at On Deck, where he led the team that developed educational programming that facilitated the founding of over 1000 companies that raised over $1B in capital.
Gattegno also held the position of Managing Director at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, where he spearheaded creating and implementing the School’s Online MBA. He was part of the founding faculty of three new universities in China and an early faculty member at Minerva.
In addition to his academic and business career, Gattegno is an accomplished classical musician, having won the world’s most prestigious prize for the interpretation of contemporary music and being nominated for a Grammy. He has performed with the New York Philharmonic, in Carnegie Hall, and on NPR, reaching a global audience of over 200 million people.
He is also a prolific author, with writings published in outlets ranging from Oxford University Press to NBC News, Quartz, and TechCrunch. Gattegno holds a doctorate from the University of California, San Diego, and Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the New England Conservatory of Music. He was a Fellow at Harvard University and is a graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy.
