It all started with the movies. At Syracuse University, Roy revived the Brockway Cinema, the movie exhibition group in his dorm. It had gone bust the year before and all the films for his sophomore year were cancelled due to lack of funding and lack of management. Roy rebuilt the Cinema by building a new team, booking high value films (low cost but classic enough to draw strong attendance) and financed the slate by creating the campuses first season pass.

Roy’s strengths in innovation, strategy, building relationships, maximizing profits and value, and willingness to take on greater challenges have continued throughout his career.

He is a big picture strategist with a track record of effectively transforming strategy into bottom line results.

During his time in the industry, Roy has built a deep understanding of the digital marketplace including management and hands on experience in initiating, developing, building relationships and closing distribution and strategic partnership deals. As a former e-business owner, he also understands the objectives, marketing issues and obstacles that are faced on a day-to-day basis in regards to generating revenue. He has experience in many facets of the digital business models including e-commerce and video creation and distribution, lead generation and search marketing (both SEO and SEM).

Professional Experience

Roy’s career consists of management, business strategy and development, sales, marketing and financial roles at companies including Viacom, General Electric, Infoseek, Playboy Entertainment Group and at Next New Networks, a startup, acquired by Google, focused on the creation of community-focused micro television networks.

Currently, he mentors technology start-ups and has helped over 50 companies during the past three years.

Roy launched the first e-commerce website in its vertical, and then more than doubled the acquired company’s profit margins through a strategic transformation of the company.
