Three Words to Describe Northeastern

Transformative | Interactive | Motivating

Getting a degree while life is happening isn’t always easy. How have you faced and overcome some of these challenges?

Being a student at Northeastern has been more than an academic journey—it’s been deeply personal. When I first moved to Boston, I faced the challenge of living far from home in an unfamiliar environment.

Managing my own life, from taking care of myself to navigating relationships with roommates, was daunting. I also had to move houses multiple times, which tested my adaptability. These experiences taught me to live independently, manage personal spaces, and build relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.

Through this journey, I developed conflict resolution skills, a deeper understanding of others’ perspectives, and resilience.

What inspired you to join the Northeastern community?

I was drawn to Northeastern for its diversity, experiential learning opportunities, and strong emphasis on leadership. I wanted to be part of a dynamic community where I could challenge myself, grow academically, and cultivate my leadership skills.

Since joining, I’ve had the privilege of taking on roles that have shaped my experience. As a Global Student Ambassador for the College of Professional Studies, I connected with students worldwide, offering guidance and support. Additionally, as the Events President for Husky Communicators, I honed my skills in event planning, public speaking, and team management.

While these leadership roles were fulfilling, they also taught me the importance of diplomacy. Navigating diverse personalities and fostering collaboration was initially challenging, but I learned how to mediate conflicts and communicate effectively.

What has your journey at Northeastern revealed to you about yourself?

My time at Northeastern has been a journey of self-discovery. Working as a Digital Marketing and Internal Communications Specialist at Creation Technologies helped me understand what resonates with me. I loved crafting marketing strategies but realized that internal communications wasn’t my passion.

This experience taught me that it’s okay to pivot toward what excites you. I’ve also learned that a career doesn’t have to be linear—we can explore multiple paths and redefine ourselves as we grow.

This mindset has empowered me to embrace change and continually seek opportunities that align with my evolving goals and passions.

What advice would you give to others considering higher education?

Prioritize intent over intellect. Trust your instincts and focus on what brings you joy and purpose. Higher education isn’t just about gaining knowledge—it’s about discovering who you are and aligning your passions with your goals.

Take risks and make decisions that resonate with your vision for the future. Ignore external noise and follow your inner voice. Finally, build your personal brand and seize opportunities to share your unique voice.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

In five years, I see myself as someone with a strong, approachable presence who makes people feel valued and heard. I aspire to create meaningful connections by uplifting others and highlighting their unique strengths.

What are some of your hobbies and passions?

I’m deeply passionate about food and even run an Instagram page, @foodwithkash, where I share restaurant experiences. Exploring new cuisines and documenting culinary adventures with my tripod is a source of joy for me.

I also love meeting new people. As an extrovert, connecting with others and learning about their stories energizes me. Whether through casual chats or meaningful conversations, building connections expands my perspective on life.
