Marketing and Communications Coordinator Co-op at Northeastern University’s School of Criminology and Criminal Justice
What challenge did you tackle during your co-op?
I was a part of the initiative that focused on bridging the gap between academic criminology theory and real-world criminal justice practice at Northeastern University’s School of Criminology and Criminal Justice. The organization needed to strengthen the connection between their research capabilities and practical applications while enhancing visibility and accessibility of their work to broader audiences. This involved managing both internal and external communications across multiple stakeholder groups, including faculty, students, researchers, and the wider community interested in criminal justice issues.
How did you approach solving this complex organizational challenge?
I managed both internal and external communications for the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, while also leading several creative projects that strengthened the school’s brand and visibility. My approach included creating promotional campaigns that maintained consistent branding, developing digital content that made complex criminological research more accessible to wider audiences, and coordinating events and milestones that brought together academic and practitioner communities. I also supported faculty, students, and researchers by sharing their stories and achievements across multiple platforms, helping to bridge the theory-practice gap that often exists in academic settings.
