Three Words to Describe Northeastern

Challenge | Growth | Opportunity

Getting a degree while life is happening isn’t always easy. How have you faced and overcome some of these challenges?

The biggest challenge I’ve faced as an undergraduate student has been not living on campus during my first year. Living on campus makes it easier to form connections with peers, and being a commuter made it harder for me to build those bonds.

To overcome this, I’ve spent as much time as possible on campus and actively immersed myself in various groups. By putting myself out there and engaging with people in my classes, I’ve been able to create meaningful connections and feel more integrated into the Northeastern community.

What inspired you to join the Northeastern community?

Joining Northeastern has been a lifelong dream of mine. Growing up, I spent time on campus with my aunt, who pursued her undergraduate degree in Education at Northeastern. My mother, a first-generation college student, is also a Northeastern alum, making the university a meaningful part of my family’s history.

I was drawn to Northeastern’s academic rigor, exceptional faculty, and renowned Co-op program. Unlike other schools where internships are not guaranteed, Northeastern’s Co-op program offers unparalleled support, helping students gain valuable real-world experience while balancing academic success.

This commitment to student development is one of the many reasons why I was eager to join this vibrant community.

What has your journey at Northeastern revealed to you about yourself?

My time at Northeastern has shown me that the world is full of possibilities, and I have the power to shape my experience however I choose. I’ve learned that while everyone has the same 24 hours in a day, how I choose to use that time is what sets me apart.

This realization has motivated me to take risks, step out of my comfort zone, and embrace new opportunities.

What advice would you give to others considering higher education?

Remember that your journey is uniquely yours, don’t compare it to others. Trust the process, no matter how long or short it may take, and take the time to figure out your learning style and what environment fits you best.

Set goals and work toward them step by step. Achieving small milestones will eventually lead to bigger accomplishments. Stay focused, stay patient, and believe in yourself.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

In five years, I envision myself having completed several Co-ops, earning my bachelor’s degree, and passing the LSAT. I also plan to get my driver’s license, move into my own apartment, and prepare to apply to law school.

What are some of your hobbies and passions?

I find joy in spending time with family and close friends. I love watching movies, especially horror films, true crime, and psychological thrillers with intricate plots and surprising endings.

Music is another passion of mine. I enjoy listening to it and occasionally creating music with friends for fun. I also express my creativity through hairstyling, often practicing on my friends, as well as cooking and exploring new food spots. For outdoor fun, I enjoy mini-golfing, go-karting, and indoor skydiving.
