Andrew Perry is currently Manager, Lynn Materials Application Engineering, for the Engineering Materials Systems Department at GE Aviation. Andrew’s group performs Materials Application Engineering for GE aircraft engines that are used in small commercial jets, fighter jets, and helicopter applications. Materials Application Engineering requires cradle-to-grave ownership of all Materials aspects of product design and usage. Prior to his employment with GE, Andrew was a Senior R&D Scientist at Praxair Electronics (2000-2004) conducting research on cryogenic metalforming and was also a Research Engineer for Bethlehem Steel Corp (1998-2000) working on flat-rolled steel product development. Andrew’s education in Materials Science started with a B.S. from Lehigh University (’93) and followed with M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Metallurgical Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines (’95 and ’98). Andrew’s hobbies include coaching wrestling and lacrosse, cycling and running, and playing guitar.
