Francesca Grippa, PhD

Biography

Francesca Grippa is a Professor of Business Strategy and Associate Dean of Research at Northeastern University, College of Professional Studies, where she also leads the EDA University Center “Inclusive Entrepreneurship Lab“. Dr Grippa is a Research Affiliate at MIT Media Lab in the Human Dynamics group and has a long-standing collaboration with research scientists at the MIT Center for Collective Intelligence. Dr Grippa’s scientific papers on collaborative innovation networks appeared on several journals, such as the Journal of Business Research; Scientific Reports; Knowledge Management Research & Practice; Journal of Knowledge Management and Social Networks. She has authored books on the Digital Transformation of Collaboration, Collaborative Innovation Network and recently the Handbook of Social Computing.

Professional Experience

Dr. Grippa has collaborated with several organizations to improve their internal communication through organizational network analysis. Such organizations include Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, and Leonardo S.p.A. (formerly Finmeccanica, an aerospace and defense company) in Rome, Italy. 

Professional Activities & Accomplishments

Dr. Grippa published several papers in peer reviewed journals, including the Journal of Business Research; Computers in Human Behaviors; Knowledge Management Research & Practice; and Social Networks. She co-edited three editions of the Springer proceedings on “Collaborative Innovation Networks” and was co-editor for a special issue on “Collaborative Innovation Networks”, in the International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Small Business.

Dr Grippa’s research was featured in the March-April 2019 Harvard Business Review article “A Novel Way to Boost Client Satisfaction.” The original paper, “The impact of virtual mirroring on customer satisfaction” was published in 2017 in the Journal of Business Research. Dr. Grippa serves as Program Chair for the International Conference on Collaborative Innovation Networks (http://coinsconference.org/). In 2016 she was appointed member of the Team Science Advisory Board of the European Project “GEDII”: Gender Diversity Impact – Improving research and innovation through gender diversity.
