Gillian Smith is the director of external communications and media relations at Suffolk University, where she oversees and drives Suffolk's strategic efforts to elevate reputation through outreach to the media, external partners and influencers. Prior to joining Suffolk in 2022, she served as the deputy director for media relations at Cornell University, where she oversaw strategic efforts to amplify and elevate faculty expertise in the media. She previously worked as a digital producer for WHDH-TV in Boston, and started her career as the editor of the Duxbury Clipper on Massachusetts' South Shore. She holds a BA in journalism from Ithaca College and a master's degree in journalism innovation from Syracuse University.
