The Pulse: August 2025
Message From The Dean
As summer winds down and we gear up for the start of a new fall term, I am truly inspired by the amazing innovation of our college community. Since we congratulated our graduates at commencement ceremonies across the country and world last May and June, our students, staff, and faculty have been doing amazing work advancing learning, careers, research, and more.
- A new mentorship program launched with 28 students and 28 mentors, including a leadership badge! We received over 170 applications — proving that there is demand for more mentorship opportunities that we will be exploring in the year to come!
- A new AI website launched to serve as the convening space for the constant innovation our community is making in this dynamic technological revolution.
- We celebrated 70+ learners who completed 8-weeks of biotech training at our Burlington campus — many of whom are moving forward with new careers.
- Our Graduate School of Education hosted a two-day residency on our Boston campus, where research and collaboration were featured and celebrated.
- Our Lab for Inclusive Entrepreneurship hosted the fourth annual Symposium on Responsible Procurement with partners from MIT and Babson, highlighting opportunities for small businesses to break into the pipeline of higher education.
These are the kinds of innovative developments that set CPS apart with an intrepid, fearless pursuit of the future. I encourage you to read the stories of these accomplishments and more below. And as you do, know that you are what inspires our constant innovation — whether you are a part-time student finishing your bachelor’s degree while balancing work and family, if you are full time graduate student who has travelled across the world to live out experiential learning while soaking up life in a new culture, if you are a member of our staff or faculty who is constantly looking for ways to open access for more learners to realize their educational journey — you inspire me and those around you every day. Thank you!
Thank you!

Upcoming Events and Opportunities
Global Symposium on Leadership and Project Management
The fourth Northeastern University Global Symposium on Leadership & Project Management, a premier gathering of thought leaders, industry experts, and scholars dedicated to advancing leadership and project management is scheduled for August 21-22, 2025. This symposium offers a platform for insightful discussions on the latest trends, strategies, and challenges shaping these fields.
The 2025 symposium theme, Transformative Leadership and Project Management: Driving Innovation, Sustainability, and Ethical Collaboration in a Dynamic World, reflects the urgent need for leaders and project managers to embrace agility, sustainability, and ethical decision-making. The rapid adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and its profound impact on industries, workforce dynamics, and strategic decision-making have further heightened the need for innovative leadership and adaptive project management approaches. The increasing complexity of global markets, the accelerating pace of technological advancements, and the growing demand for sustainable solutions require organizations to adopt a forward-thinking approach. Effective leadership inspires teams, fosters innovation, and drives meaningful change, while strong project management ensures that strategic visions are executed with precision. Together, these disciplines create a foundation for organizations to thrive in an environment of constant change.
We invite you to join us at Northeastern University for this inspiring event. Whether you are an experienced professional, an emerging leader, or an academic eager to expand your knowledge, this symposium will offer valuable perspectives and tools to help shape the future of leadership and project management. Together, we can explore innovative solutions, harness AI’s transformative potential, and contribute to a more sustainable, ethical, and forward-looking world.

Inclusive Outlook Calendar
In response to suggestions from faculty and staff, we have created an optional “inclusive calendar” in Outlook that you can overlay with your own Outlook calendar if you choose. This calendar highlights heritage months as well as cultural and religious holidays and festivals. The calendar is by no means exhaustive, and we expect it will grow over time. We hope that this inclusive calendar will support event planning and provide awareness of significant days for our CPS colleagues.
