Dr. Kinley specializes in data analytics education with expertise in ethical data storytelling and innovative hybrid pedagogy. His work focuses on making analytics accessible to diverse learners while emphasizing the critical importance of understanding data’s potential for both insight and misuse. He bridges technical competency with practical application, preparing students to become thoughtful data practitioners who can communicate effectively across industries.

Teaching
Dr. Kinley teaches numerous courses including

Additional Information
Dr. Kinley has created innovative teaching methods including “town hall” office hours that provide collective learning opportunities and has partnered with Maine nonprofits (Pine Tree Legal, In Her Presence, Project Management Institute of Maine, Kind Mind) to give students real-world analytical experience. These partnerships have enabled 30+ students to present findings directly to organizational leadership.
His commitment to accessibility through synchronous hybrid delivery has made graduate education possible for students across Maine who cannot attend in person due to geography, work, or family obligations
Prior to Northeastern, Dr. Kinley held faculty positions at Fordham University (Assistant Professor and Associate Chair of Undergraduate Studies, 2003-2007) and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (1998-2003). He lives in Falmouth, Maine, where he previously served as School Board member and Chair (2009-2015) and as a Boy Scout leader (2011-2022), mentoring over 100 scouts.
