Steps to graduation
Follow the steps in this table to prepare for graduation.
Determine your eligibility![]() | Which ceremony should you attend? • To determine your graduation ceremony date and degree conferral, please use the link below to review the graduation deadlines in which students must complete all requirements. • Only qualified graduates are eligible to attend a graduation ceremony. • Please see your Academic Advisor and see dates for the appropriate ceremony Graduation application deadlines |
Review your information about degree, major, and Expected Graduation Date![]() | Begin the graduation process by reviewing your current program information (degree and major). • Log in to the Student Hub • Click on Resources Tab • Click Registrar Self-Service • Click Student Records • Click View Student Information • Choose your term • Click submit • Review your information about degree, major, and Expected Graduation Date (EGD) If any information is inaccurate or you have any questions, reach out to your academic advisor or learner services. |
Apply to graduate![]() | • Log onto the Student Hub. • Click the “Resources” link in the top navigation bar. • Scroll down to the “Graduation Information” section, choose “Apply to Graduate,” and complete the questionnaire. Note: If you receive an error message or your program information is incorrect, alert your academic advisor. • After completing the application, you may choose the View Application to Graduate link to review your details and/or to update your diploma mailing address only. You may edit your address no later than 2 weeks prior to graduating. |
Complete an exit interview![]() | If you have received a Federal Stafford Loan (subsidized or unsubsidized) or Direct Subsidized or Unsubsidized Loans, complete the exit interviews below. • Bachelor’s Completion – https://studentloans.gov • Graduate – https://studentloans.gov For more information, contact Student Financial Services at 617-373-5899. |
Obtain the diploma![]() | Provided all academic and financial obligations are met, graduates who apply by the deadline will receive their diplomas in the mail at the address provided on their graduation application. • Diplomas will be mailed four to six weeks after degrees are officially awarded by the Office of the Registrar. International mail requires an additional one to two weeks. • Graduates will be given advance notice regarding diploma mailing dates. Diplomas cannot be picked up on campus. • FAQs regarding diploma and mailing can be found here: https://commencement.northeastern.edu/faq/diplomas/ Please contact the Office of the Registrar at [email protected] with any questions about your diploma. Diplomas will NOT be distributed during the ceremony in May. |

May 2020 Virtual Celebrations
The virtual celebration included messages from Dean Mary Loeffelholz and other faculty members, recognition of students, and more. These virtual recognition ceremonies were not a replacement for in-person ceremonies at a future date. These virtual ceremonies were an opportunity for the Northeastern University College of Professional Studies community to acknowledge graduates’ achievements sooner.

September 2020 Virtual Celebration
The 2020 Summer Virtual Recognition celebration included messages from Dean Mary Loeffelholz, a student speaker, a guest speaker, faculty, and a recognition slide for each graduate.
