Courtney Martinez serves as a faculty member in the Biology & Biotechnology and Pre-Medical Post-Baccalaureate Certificate program within the College of Professional Studies. Courtney earned her M.A. in Neuroscience & Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida and is currently working to complete her Doctor of Education (EdD), with an emphasis on Innovative Teaching & Learning, here at Northeastern University. Courtney’s research centers around advocacy for post-baccalaureate pre-health education as an avenue for addressing significant diversity gaps and shortages in the healthcare education pipeline.

In addition to her role as a faculty member, Courtney serves as a pre-health advisor with the PreMed & PreHealth Advising Program at Northeastern University. Courtney is the pre-health advisor for students in the College of Professional Studies Pre-Medical Post-Baccalaureate program. Courtney is an active member of the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professionals (NAAHP) and the Northeast Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (NEAAHP). During her time at the University of Central Florida, Courtney was also a member of the Southern Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (SAAHP). Courtney currently serves as an NAAHP mentor for new pre-health advisors and is actively involved in the national post-baccalaureate pre-health education community.  

Courtney has been nominated for several teaching and advising awards, including College of Professional Studies Teacher of the Year (2024) and NAAHP Rising Star (2024). Courtney has presented at several professional conferences, including the SAAHP Professional Regional Conference (2021) and the NAAHP National Conference (2024).
