Dr. Halstead received a B.S. degree in Finance, summa cum laude, from the University of Connecticut, a M.S. degree in Finance (tied for second in graduating class) from Boston College, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance from the University of Connecticut. His approximately 300-page dissertation analyzed the 1994 Orange County, California, bankruptcy and Long-Term Capital Management, a former Greenwich, Connecticut hedge fund. Along with two other authors, he has published an article in The Financial Review and another one in The Journal of Alternative Investments. From 2002-2005, he served on his town's Board of Tax Review. He has work experience at an investment advisory firm. During the course of his career, he has taught such courses as personal finance, corporate finance, investments, financial accounting, treasury management, capital formation, and advanced money and capital markets.
