Biography
Richard Goldberg, a Boston native, has taught English to adult speakers of other languages since 1993. Prior to coming to Northeastern, Richard was Director of Education and instructor in the Next Steps Transitional English Program (Next STEP) at the Asian American Civic Association, a multi-service center in Boston’s Chinatown. From 2013 to 2016, Next STEP was recognized by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education/ Adult and Community Learning Services for sending the most adult students to college from among its 82 community-based adult programs. Richard has also taught at Bunker Hill Community College, Endicott College and Emerson College. He has also tutored immigrant professionals at Boston area biotechnology, IT, financial services and medical device companies. Richard holds a master’s degree in applied linguistics from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
Professional Activities & Accomplishments
In 2002, Richard was named Adult Education Teacher of the Year by the Massachusetts Coalition for Adult Education. In 2007, he was honored as Adult Education Administrator of the Year by the same organization.
