Biography

Retired January 2005 following 30-year career with American Lung Association. Chapter director 1979 – 1995 in NH. Vice President Field Services summer, 1995 to retirement. Since 2006 consulting to nonprofits in board development, strategic planning, & fundraising. Teaching nonprofit management classes since 2007. Taught in MS Leadership program in Vietnam for CPS summer, 2014. Interim NPM department lead 2017. Completed six-summer course in association management at U Delaware, presented by ASAE. Boardsource and Drucker Foundation training in board development and strategic planning.

Social studies teacher, Rochester NH school system, 1971 – 73.  Coordinator of Veteran Affairs U of New Hampshire, 1973 – 75. Director childrens lung disease programs American Lung Association Minnepolis 1975 – 79.  Executive director American Lung Association of NH 1979 – 95.  VP Field Services at American Lung Association national headquarters NYC1995 – 2005; assess chapter performance, oversee Learning Center (volunteer and staff training), oversee chapter executive recruitment and training, coordinate strategic planning process for ALA.

Board of Directors NH Council on Fundraising, 1982 – 95; President, 1993-94. National Direct Mail Council of American Lung Association, 1991-95; Chair 1993-94. Present at conferences of American Lung Association, NY Society of Association Executives, Chambers of Commerce (MA), Mass Society of Association Executives. Published in newsletters and magazines of NYSAE, Boardsource, American Lung Association.
