Susan Avallone


Biography

Susan has been a registered nurse for more than 47 years with experience in research oncology, home care, diabetes education, public health and school nursing; both in management and direct care. Her experiences have allowed her to work in different areas of the United States, including in Houston, Dallas, Colorado, Boston and north central Massachusetts.  Currently working as a public health nurse, she is using her skills to conduct case surveillance, contact tracing and vaccine distribution planning in light of the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Susan has also been the recipient of many community awards, including the Massachusetts Commission of Women Unsung Heroine Award, and has done school nurse presentations at the local and state level. She enjoy the outdoors, traveling, volunteering and walking her dog.

Active in community advocacy, promoting cancer support services and research, education on substance use and recovery and public health.
