Northeastern Receives $500,000 Pathmaker Award to Expand Life Sciences Workforce Training
Northeastern University has received a $500,000 award from the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) to expand workforce training in the life sciences. The funding, part of more than $5.2 million awarded statewide through the MLSC Pathmaker program, will support 53 training opportunities through Northeastern’s Center for Bioinnovation and Biopharmaceutical Analysis & Training Laboratory (BATL) in Burlington.
The program will provide hands-on training in life sciences laboratory automation, robotics, and artificial intelligence, including experience with industry-standard technologies such as automated liquid handlers. Participants will also develop foundational programming and AI-assisted automation skills while gaining experience with cGMP and quality systems, with opportunities to earn OSHA 10 and BCSI certifications.
“As the life sciences industry increasingly embraces AI, automation, and advanced technologies, we are honored to continue our partnership in equipping participants with the skills needed to thrive in this evolving workforce,” said Jared Auclair, Dean of the College of Professional Studies and Director of Bioinnovation at Northeastern University.
The latest Pathmaker awards will create 439 training opportunities across Massachusetts, supporting the state’s efforts to build career pathways and meet the workforce needs of its growing life sciences sector.
