The Symposium on the Intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Talent Strategy focused on the skills and competencies required for successful AI and machine learning implementation teams and on the workforce development challenges of the future. As Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, has argued, machine learning and AI represent the “horizontal enabling layer that will empower and improve every business, every government organization, and every philanthropy.” Joseph E. Aoun, the President of Northeastern University, underscores in his new book, Robot-Proof, the need to embrace this reality. His blueprint involves educating lifelong learners in three literacies: technological literacy, data literacy, and human literacy. Northeastern University is at the forefront of translating these literacies into competencies and skills that are vital to every organization’s long-term talent development strategy.

AI leaders from a wide range of organizations and sectors, including Finance, Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, Human Resource, and Consulting sectors addressed the challenges of implementing AI initiatives. What should be the make-up of a successful AI team? What skills and competencies are essential? What role does organizational readiness play? And what are the workforce development priorities of the future?
